FJ80 cargo divider

I really need a solution to separate the cargo area from the 'living quarters.' I love the idea of a Raingler net - but the fit / security is not exact without vehicle mods and it is expensive. :Wow1:

Something like this screen would be the perfect fix - I just have no idea where it came from:

Ideas?

Nobody is in the USA. They're uber rare and extremely hard to find right now. They've been like gold for the last few years. For some reason no one wants to bring them in anymore.

I just made a call to a company that used to sell them, but stopped due to the very poor exchange rate. For the 80's they cost $475 plus shipping. Nutz!

So the search continues...

Clearly this is nowhere near as cool as a Milford or a Raingler net, but it's worked pretty well for me. It's not a totally solid mount but it does a decent job of just keep crap in the back of the truck and out of passengers laps.

I got it originally to keep my Labrador in the back of the truck. Got it at Petsmart and it's made by KennelAire (I think). Tension mounted between the floor and roof. Very simple design. Not the best photo of it but its all I could find. I think it cost me around $90.

Non-cruiser photo but one I pilferred from the interweb. This is the same as what I've got. It's 3 panels that are adjustable for width.

Oh yeah, and I used some foam pipe insulation around the perimeter to protect the headliner and it also helped close the gap around the edge.

Box Rocket - I'll check that out today. I am looking for something that mounts solidly to the rear grab handle mounts and goes to the floor. Perhaps this can be mod'ed to fit the bill. Thanks for the info and pics.

FWIW, the nutty high cost of the Milford unit makes them an unrealistic consideration. I spent 10 minutes getting measurments and 15 more on the phone and now have two options to having one made. Neither are over $90.00. Powder coating will set me back another $20.00. Add in the shipping savings and we are talking about a serious savings. My rig already has a lot of gear from down under without paying a ton for wire mesh in a metal frame.

Though I agree that Milford is highly-priced, I too have spent time in the back of my 80 taking measurements.

Significant time.

Choosing the correct mounting locations especially high up requires some non-trivial bracketry and possible cuts into the headliner with possible re-inforcements at the roof.

I was not able to get any local quote working with any expanded steel or grate for less than several hundred, not inclusive of mounting bracketry.

Trust me, I ain't disrespectin' and I'm eager to see your results (as I may want a copy).

Yes, price seems to be the issue...but that is back when the money exchange rate was like 0.55 to 0.62 to the America Dollar. Now it is like 0.95 or so....this lowers our cost BIGTIME.

props to who ever can go out and make a barrier for them selves, I have a home brew one in one of my trucks and love it:victory:

from a a sellers prospective we need to make sure every product meets safety standards and is crash tested if it revolves around a restraint system, so a portion of the price you pay goes into the research and development and guarantee that it it is going to hold up to a specific force:ylsmoke:
