I got tired of flying a little flag. I found this 16ft collapsible flag pole at Harbor Freight.

Ok it's overkill, but I like it. I really may have to look into that.

EDIT: So my wife says if I mount that on my rig at camp she WILL NOT come along. So is that a good thing or a bad thing????

p.s. Yes she is very patriotic, I think this falls under "what the double hockey sticks is he doing to the truck now?"

What's it made out of? How much does it weigh? Does it have a base?

I was thinking that it might also make a good antenna mast.

How do you put it together, or extend it, or lock it into place, or whatever?

Did it come in that nifty flip-top tube, or did you make that?

At the Harbor Freight store the tag stated not available in Minnisota.

The poles telescope and you twist them to tighten in place. You don't have to extend the poles all the way to 16'. They can be locked at any height.

The base mount was part of the kit. According to the instructions you dig a hole and put in the base fill with concrete. The only thing I don't know is the wind load of the pole.

I have been flying a Jolly Roger on a 22' telescoping flag pole for a few years now.

Has me thinking about a nice wind generator to recharge the ole batteries, possible backup or replacement to my solar setup.
