Flat bed options

Alum-Line here. Been on the truck over 45k miles carrying my Bundutec Free. Been all over the US, Northern Mexico, and Baja. I have not been nice to it and have twisted the truck up too many times to count. Camper is bolted to the bed. No problems and still looks new.

You should take a look at Highway Products in southern Oregon. https://www.highwayproducts.com/c/pickup-truck-flatbeds/

I talked to them about a custom build and was really impressed with their customer service and creativity. I ended up not doing the project but will certainly go back to them if I get another flatbed.

Also, be sure to ask about lead times when you are calling around. The pandemic has pushed things out.

I agree that HPI makes some outstanding products and service is great BUT the prices are in the stratosphere. The guy who bought my Fuso just got a quote (a week ago) from them for a 7'x14' flatbed with a front box (like pictured on their website). $25,000 with a May delivery. Needless to say, he is not going in that direction as Aluma and CM aluminum beds in that size are under $4,000 without the box. I took the tour and was working on getting a quote for them to make a camper similar to the Alu-Cab Khaya camper for my friend as Alu-Cab does no make one that fits his truck (F150) and without a poptop the quote was going to be in the $30,000 range.

The flatbed on my Fuso is Aluma. The quality is not so hot. Its about an inch out of square which wouldn't be a problem if you are hauling hay bales but when you are bolting a camper or boxes to it you will lose some brain cells trying to get things to fit. I ended up cutting the bulkhead off and welding a channel on the front to box the bed. I snapped a line down the center of the bed and squared off of that line. It's still wider at the front than the rear but not so noticeable now. Lesson learned is pull a tape from corner to corner before you write the check for the bed and you get what you pay for.

If you are hanging tool boxes under the bed ask the manufacturer how they recommend doing it. Each one is different.
