Flat towing 91 Trooper

I'm buying a 91 Trooper 4 cyl. 5 speed. It's 130 miles from my house. Is it ok to use a tow dolly with the rear tires on the ground ? T case in neutral ?

I guess it wouldn't take much more time to pull the driveline.

Yeah, the old hands say that there are bearings in the transfer case that won't be lubricated properly in flat tow mode. Best disconnect the driveshaft.

I towed one with a disconnect that went bad. The tranny became a metal smoothy. I'd disconnect drive line as recommended.

Lol, was that an automatic smoothy or a manual smoothy?
