Its not a Mini truck as in old school Toyota.
But My Tacoma has been flat-bedded...

Here is some inspiration for ya...

Lots of work and the fuel fill relocation has to be done to get it to flow right. However it has proved to be worth it over the stock bed.

This is my daily driver. Flatbed is still there, but now it has a custom enclosure.

Be sure to check the tire clearance when building a flatbed. I have a friend who replaced his pickup bed with a flatbed after an accident. Turns out the rear tires would touch the flatbed when flexed out. They had to add mini-wheelwells to give enough space for the tires.

Back in USA, here's an 81 Toyota with custom pop-top camper. Tire clearance might be an issue here.

This is a good point I was pretty careful myself to check clearance with my bed. Works perfect with 255/85 and 235/85 If I ever went to 35s Id have to add a bump stop or reconfigure.

Ive been debating about making one for mine. I'm not ready to commit to closing the bed off. Its so useful open.

I really like the look of some metal over the tires for fenders for a do it all sorta bed

What'd it end up costing you total?
Very nice, very clean.

I had an idea to design one with removable plates to make a full-flat bed for hauling, then swap on wheel-wells when articulation/flex was gonna happen (off-road). I'd probably do removable bed sides and a tail gate.

On Mudrak's FJ45 pickup is an aluminum bed with a lot of detail to it. Want to build something like it for my '85 xcab.
