Flip Pac weight

Hi,

I just got a flip pac in a 2001 2.7 L tacoma. It has a beat down stock suspension and the ride is terrible. I am doing a suspension upgrade soon. I am thinking about the OME Stock Light kit. Will this be ok for the extra weight of the flip pac? Should I add an extra leaf or would that be overkill? I think I read that a light truck flip pac was 290 pounds.

Thanks!

OME with the extra leaf for sure! even though the flip is only 300 lb or so, there is so much room you will have a tendency to put more stuff in there just because you have the room to do so. Trust Me!

With the FlipPac weighing 290 lb, and your additional camping gear, water etc you may be adding 500 lbs to the bed of your truck when fully loaded.

We have found the Air Lift rear air bag system to work well with the Tacoma. It allows you to keep the truck level when it's just the FlipPac and when it's the FlipPac and all your gear.

If you just go with upgraded leaf springs I'd be thinking more heavy duty than the Stock light.

I think I may just replace my beat out leafs with a 4 pack leaf. That would be the stock 3 plus 1 extra. That should give the back a couple of inches without the camper and run about even with the flip pac on it. Air lifts look nice to but since my leafs are currently negative arched i figured i need to get them replaced anyway.
