I have a flip pack style camper for sale that drops into the bed of a truck. we used it on our 2009 toyota double cab short bed and it worked pretty well. It has some shelving built inside with tons of storage and can sleep 2 in the upper bed and the table can be removed to sleep one persone or a small couple, this thing has tons of space and works very well were just looking to go another route. The tag on the inside says it is the #1 proto type built in 1977.It is very nice being able to keep it loaded and just put it in and go out for the expedition. were looking to get 2500.00 OBO i think it is a very fair price considering how versitile the camper is, best way to contact me is through email or text (805)433-3643 jesseazarva@gmail.com the camper is in simi valley ca.

Hi Jesse:

You may want to include some more details about this camper, like, what are the critical measurements? Condition of the unit overall? Tent and components? The pictures and description don't really tell us what you have there. But it looks interesting.

Good luck.

Fascinating - never seen anything like it. Is it made of aluminum? The tent/bed area appears to be the same as the flippac's.

Yes its skinned with aluminum with a woods core and paneling on the inside,I as far as I know it is the same as a flip pack I've never actually seen one, its old but I think that's what makes it really cool!

7feet long,16inch bed depth,57 inches from the roof to the bottom of the door,45 inches from the bottom of the bed to the roof, and 63 inches wide, the rachet straps on the inside make an x to keep the tent/matress/sleeping bag up nice and tight when folded up I just remove them after the camper is open and all set up.

This was called a Barrtop then. My father and uncle invented it in the mid 70s. My father designed the opening mechanism, my uncle the torsion bar.Mechanics Illustrated magazine named it as one of the best new inventions of 1980. If you look close, you will see extruded aluminum receivers at the corners and recessed rivets just like on aircraft. My father kept the business going until the late 80s when he sold it to Sixpac for $1000. My father was a counselor and my uncle an engineer. They have both passed. The original design was overbuilt. He went to a fiberglass shell made in Tijuana, Mexico but still lost about $200,000. RV is tough business. I have videos of the original Cartop and the original Barrtop, both hand made.
