Flip- Pac mattress

I own a 2004 (Flip-Pac) purchased from FRP in Riverside, mounted on a 1999 Tacoma 4 x 4. the mattress has always been too soft, so I have used a Cabella 4" thick self-inflating insulated mattress which is great for camping in Death Valley in Fall to Spring - too hot in summer.

I have heard their is a new harder mattress on the newer models, Can someone verify that fact?

I have been calling FRP almost daily the past 4 months and have not received a positive answer. They never return my calls, so I guess I will have to make the 75 mile trip to see for myself.

Thanks for the feedback to jmassopust@sbcglobal.net:coffee:

Personally, I would pay the extra for the AT version, which is likely to hold up better due to thicker walls but the biggest cost benefit is Customer Support!

If you have any problems with a AT bought model, Mario and Martyn will go out of their way to make sure you are 100% happy. They will not rest until you are happy. That can be more than worth the few hundreds dollars up front.

RC pilot Jim, I don't know of any differences in the mattresses over the years, but I haven't asked either. I do have an extra mattress from my 2007 flippac, you can have it if you want it. It's just taking up room under my house.

Mine is the larger mattress and I carved a bit of the foam out of the corner for other projects, but should still fit the smaller ones like your Taco.

I have the foam mattress out of my Tiger under there too if it would fit better. It's a two layer foam - 1" of softer stuff on top of I think 2" of harder stuff. Also free, just get it out of here!

I've repeatedly almost thrown both of them away but never did. They're both in good shape and have covers, just swapped them for something I liked better. Spring cleanup/free dumpsters in the canyon soon, maybe I'll actually toss them this year. Drop me a PM if you're interested.

You could also try buyfoam.com or any number of foam suppliers to get a custom cut/thickness/firmness.

That's one of FRP's distributors, I talked to them when trying to order mine a few years ago.

Thanks for the info.

If my homemade build doesn't pan out (a really cold, wet spring up in the PNW, I don't feel like spending the few nice days welding) they might be a good source for shipping me one. That is unless AT comes up with a better tent for their flippac - that would change everything.
