Some sort of lost...
8k for a 16-17 year old Jeep Cherokee? I don't think so.

It looks clean in the pictures, but even IF the miles are truly that low, lots of things wear out with age. I feel like it wouldn't have sold for $8k, ten years ago?

Cherokees are in demand now BUT not a good cherokee. Most people want a beat up one so his falls outside of the demand. I had a 98 cherokee with around 60,000 miles in the same shape as this one I traded to car dealer back in 2006. They sold it for around $8k back then.

FWIW, I bought my '99 with 65K miles about three years ago for $3500.

There are very few Cherokees worth 8 grand....

I paid 5k for a very clean 1999 XJ - 5-6 years ago from a used car place. And vehicles are generally more expensive up here (Canada) than down there. I'm not sure what the market is like for XJ's down there... but anything over 4 maybe 5k would be too much in my opinion. You can always make an offer and see how much he'll budge. You never know.

I sold my 01 Cherokee Sport 4x4 with 107k miles for $7500 last year. It had a 4.5" Rubicon Express lift with 31" ******** Cepek tires and a winch bumper/winch on the front. It was minty clean and I was proud to get that for it. That being said, I see lots of them sub-$5k.

Market value is defined as what a consumer is ready and willing to pay for a particular good. In this case, it would take someone specifically seeking a mint, low mile Cherokee to spend that kind of money. Like Bigjerm said, most people want something cheap and "broken in," so this one is definitely not the norm.

Edit: I emailed the link to myself and opened it on my phone since I can't view CL on my work computer.. That thing is definitely not worth $8k. 96 SE model? $3-4k tops.
