Fold-Out Folding Table

Just finished my folding table. For snack time I made a little shelf table on top of the lift. For cocktail hour a medium sized table folds out. Open it up and you have a big table for dinner!

I got the idea from the folding cockpit tables on yachts. I used some butler hinges and 2 of these folding shelf brackets. They're rated a 750 lbs so it's pretty sturdy! http://www.hardwaresource.com/hinges/FURNITURE+HINGES/Table+Hinges+-+Shelf+Hinges/Hinged+Shelf+Support%2C+Heavy+Duty

To support it my dad made a frame to go around the lift and mounted the hinges:

Very nice! It's always great to see good ideas that maximize space and use. Nice woodwork too, well done! Have you thought of putting a latch to lock the two panels so they don't open when in the stored position?

Cheers,

Thanks! A latch would be a good finishing touch. For now I just have a bungy cord holding it closed. I'll see what i can do..
