Sorry for taking so long to get back to you with information on comparing the PowerFilm and Globalsolar panels.

There is no easy way to compare the two based on publicly available information. The only way for us to do it is to get both panels and test them side by side over a period of time, recording the output with a couple of Doc Wattson Meters.

Our on going research into the PowerFilm 60 watt has been impressive. The picture below shows the panel putting out 3.5 amps out of a maximum of 3.6 amps.

Did you get your hands on one of the Global Solar flexible panels yet? Any initial impressions on build quality or output?

Does "Power Film" need a site visit?

They're only ~40 miles up the road from me in Ames.....let me get through April and I'll run up there with my voltmeter in hand ;)

We are doing fine with the PowerFilm 60 watt, that is the brand we are selling and continue to do long term testing on.

We are in the midst of getting a Globalsolar 62 watt panel for comparative testing. Does anyone have one hanging around they can send to us? :sunny:

I have had their 48W model in cammo green for over a year with excellent results. I'm seeking some rigid models for our RV roof and so likely will be selling the one I have (PM if interested on a great deal) to help fund the new purchase and RV setup. From my experience and scrutiny build quality and performance are top notch but for some reason they are no longer selling the 48W.

Sorry we need the 62 watt panel to do side by side comparisons. But we do sell great rigid panels.

carmanah controller hijack

I have one of the Carmanah solar controllers on my AT and was wondering about the jumper feature for AGMs. What are your thoughts on removing that so that the maximum charge output is 14.1 vs 14.4 for the flooded cell batteries?

"The charging voltages are the same as for any standard battery - no need for any special adjustments or problems with incompatible chargers or charge controls. And, since the internal resistance is extremely low, there is almost no heating of the battery even under heavy charge and discharge currents. The Concorde (and most AGM) batteries have no charge or discharge current limits."

From what I consider to be a reliable source:
