Located in Hood River, OR 1 hr from PDX airport. We can accommodate a mobile inspection and airport pickup if necessary.
This Provan Tiger CX (Tiger Adventure Vehicle) is a motorhome built on a 1994 Chevrolet HD 2500 heavy-duty pickup chassis cab. It has a pass-through from the cab to the cabin, complete off-grid RV comforts, and 4x4 off-road capabilities. The body is aluminum with a fiberglass top.
We've traveled full time in this camper for 14 years. The size vs. capacity is unique - bumper to end of box is 22 ft long (remove the box for a 19 ft rig). With a short wheel base and a height of only 9 ft, it is easily maneuvered into tight, out-of-the-way camp spots. The interior layout is extremely comfortable and spacious for such a small RV. There is abundant storage space inside for domestic items. The huge aluminum box (81" x 33" x 34") on the back provides an enormous space for outdoor gear/tools and also serves as a platform for a bike rack.
It has 237k miles. We bought it at 112k miles in 2011 from the second owner. We have many of the original records from the first 2 owners and have records for everything while we have owned it, including every gallon of diesel purchased. The solar/electrical system was completely renovated in 2011 with upgrades over the years. The interior was completely renovated in 2015 with new sofa foam in 2023.
The truck has been upgraded in many ways (details below) but the truck and camper are showing lots of cosmetic wear. The camper was used for remote off-grid travel so some standard camper amenities were removed, including the toilet, black water tank, and the connection to city water. There is a small, portable 5 gal gray water tank that makes dumping easy and stealthy if necessary (pictured).
Truck Details:
1994 Chevrolet k2500 4 x 4
6.5L Turbo Diesel (extensive mods to increase life/reliability)
13 mpg
4L80E automatic transmission
The 6.5L Detroit Diesel engine has a somewhat undeserved reputation. Remote mounting of the PMD and changes to the cooling system (bigger water pump, bigger fan clutch, and bigger fan blade) enable these to run well over 300k miles. A big plus is cheap parts. A set of 8 injectors cost less than a single injector in more modern diesels.
Camper electrical:
310 Watts of solar panels
230 Amp hour Trojan T105 batteries in excellent condition
900 Watt inverter
Xantrex c35 charge controller
Bogart Engineering system monitor
Victron Blue Power Charger (for connecting to shore power)
Interior Appliances:
12 volt Nova Kool refrigerator (can be plugged into 120 V shore power)
19,000 BTU Suburban furnace (new in 2023)
EZ 101 Instant hot water heater
ShurFlo 3 gpm water pump with 30 gal fresh water tank
Comfort:
Large L shaped sofa with new foam (2023)
Sofa folds out to full-sized bed
Full-sized bed above cab
Roomy shower (toilet and sink were removed where a cassette/compost toilet could be added)
Exterior shower
Front passenger seat swivels to face the back
Awning on passenger side (good condition)
LED lighting throughout
USB power points throughout
Separate filtered water faucet
