I'm not quite sure... I believe it's now done by the same company that does the spot tracker..I used it a couple of years ago.. Had an unlimited plan for a year and it worked great.. And now they are supposed to have even more satellites..

Absolutely.. Worked perfect for what I needed it for.. Would be keeping it but I am heading into Europe and it doesn't work on their system.

Highly interested in this. When you used it, how were you getting the service? Did you have a monthly contract or buy prepaid minutes or what?

It still has to go to a "home" office from the satellite so that it can be directed to the person you are calling.... And that home office is in the USA.. I bought an unlimited 1 year phone and data plan last time I used it when I rode across the USA on a dirt bike by dirt roads.. ( the trans American trail) . I believe you can see more info on the spot tracker site as they are the agent for the Qualcomm system..
