My bastard pack lift is working great!!

DSC01610.jpg

I ended up getting about 1.5" of lift over stock after everything has settled. This is about 2.5" over where it was sitting before with its saggy rear, though, so I'm lovin it.

This is the writeup I followed,

http://www.rocklizardfabrications.com/home_brew_budget_boost.htm

but I subsituted coil spacers, instead of f150/grand cherokee coils, cuz they were new/easy/cheap.

Still haven't got shocks...still haven't connected my sway bar..haha...truck doesn't seem to know the difference. :D

planning on putting some monroe sensa-trac's like the write-up says, as well as add some load airbags in the rear, to help me from sagging these springs out, too.

p.s. thanks again, to all that helped me do this!

Glad you had good luck assembling your own pack. I considered it but shied away in favor of an off the shelf OME heavy. I just didn't want to spend consecutive weekends under the back of the rig tuning a spring pack to my liking.

I ended up doing that with the front end though. When I added the winch bumper and M8000 I found that I needed a little more spring rate. I went with an OME Coil from a V-8 Grand Cherokee. I am happy with the front suspension now. The extra rate of the V-8 GC spring compensates nicely for the added weight of the winch and bumper. You may want to reconsider a set of V-8 GC springs for your rig once you mount your winch, you'll be surprised at the handling and braking changes you encounter when you put 70 more lbs on the front of that lever.

I have suffered in the past with rigs sprung too stiffly and a CJ-5 prone to bottoming on the bumpstops. Poorly set up suspenders can sour you from enjoying your rig. I find tweaking and tuning a suspension kind of tedious and laborious (sometimes expensive). Once you get it right though, it is super gratifying. Good work on finding the right mix for your rig.

Woot. You should paint the gold part of the wheels a light gray, unless of course you like the pimpalicious gold.

I'm in the same boat. Two kiddies in diapers, and a staggering daycare bill.

I was going to do the rocklizard budget lift too, but ended up nabbing a set of rear OME leafs from a local guy for $100, and bought used OME front coils from NAXJA for $60. Ran used shocks meant for a 3" lift until I finally decided to keep the Jeep and splurged on new OME Nitros. They were too long and stock shocks would have been fine to run for a while.

I'd love a new tricked out truck, but don't want to do a car payment. I also get more enjoyment out of modding things, than having a lot tied up in a car.

Nicely done.

Cool, sounds like a great setup!

yeah, brother $1800.00 a month for my 3 angels. Worth every penny, as its a christian/curriculum based preschool. They're gettin' bible, art, math, reading and tons of supervised, simply "be a kid and run-around" time. :D
