Anyone have a link to purchase the under van / side mounted 12 gallon water tank that sportsmoblie uses on there ford vans? Its smaller then I want, but my 30 gallon is taking up too much valuable realestate.

Thanks!

Sportsmobile uses a few (2-3) different water tanks but I am pretty sure none are 30 gallons (at most 10-20 gallon) and all of the ones I have seen are interior mounted not exterior.

look around the marine shops for anything in any size or shape
West Marine and other places have great deals.
Honestly I am suprised we don't have more crossover between the marine world and the overlanding one.

My 30gal will fit where the spare tire is, but I have not found another spot I liked for the spare tire. Back door does not work as it obstructs the door from opening enough to be bothersome... and I load dirt bikes, mtn bikes, and jetskis in my van, and need max door opening clearance. Thought about putting the spare on the roof, but that requires a rack to be intalled, and adds more wind resistance which the van does not need. So as of right now I just put the 30gallon on the floor between back seat and drivers seat. It has on/off and quick connects, so if 2 people needs to sit in the back seat I can remove it in under 5mins. But I want to get the tank out of the van and mounted under. Just takes up too much space.

I did some measuring and I can get a 18-20 gallon custom made tank to fit under my back seat. Which is my next best option, but I like the storage I have under the seat now. If anyone has installed tanks under there vans any and all ideas are GREATLY appreciated! I thought I read sportsmobile had a undervan side mounted grey water tank, but I could be mistaken. 10-20 gallons is low for my needs, 20-30 is good, 30-40 is ideal.

Where does your 30gal sit and what are you doing with it once removed?

I had it custom made and it will fit in spare tire location. Going to hang on to it just incase I go on a multi day trip where I need alot of water.

Bummer I was really hoping they were external!

Thanks for the tip. I was checking out west marines tanks last time I was @ the west super store that just opened near me. And I am with you on the marine/overland thinking. Marine grade products are normally built 1000x better then "RV" class products.

Defender Marine for good pricing

We got a polyethylene water tank through Defender - seemed like much the best price and the tanks come in a huge number of stock sizes.

There are interior soft tanks (Flexi Tanks) available as well, we just got one for a customer with an FJ80 Land Cruiser that installs in the rear 1/4 panel and aside from the hose coming out of the bottom corner of the interior panel its invisible and utilizes no useable interior space.

You could try the other Class-B RV builders, to see about external tanks. You will have to be careful during freezing conditions.
