Here's another old school truck my '68 F-250 CrewCab on a 131" wheelbase chassis Cummins 4BT,5 speed with Detroit/Eaton Trutracks and our Alaskan popup camp trailer near Kennedy Meadows in the Sequoia National Forest. This was our first trip after the conversion,we are VERY happy with the Cummins It made a good truck even better 22 mpg highway so far and I still do not have the injector pump dialed in for max mileage,it's my first diesel and am still learning.

Thanks we named her "The Filthy Beast"
Beauty is only skin deep...but ugly is to the bone,you would be surprised how polite people are to her in traffic I cant remember the last time someone cut me off in traffic.Some day I would like to get the body work and paint done,but I am afraid that as soon as I do someone will run in to it,the cab is off an F-600 from the local oil fields and was rough when I put it on the frame.As you can probaly tell I am more concearned with function then cosmetics
I have a build thread on 4btswaps.com same user name.The jury is still out in the trutracks I broke the heads off two of the carrier bolts in the rear pulling the trailer through deep sand
but luckily did no damage to ring and pinion.I found the problem when I pulled the dif cover to change break in lube it turned out that I did not have enough preload on the carrier bearings.
I replaced all the carrier socket head cap screws @ 120 ft/lbs with read locktite and increased bearing preload from .010" to .018" so that should no longer be an isue,Timken's can last a long time with more preload then called for and that will reduce the stress on the carrier bolts.....I hope. I am waiting for it to rain so I can see how the front behaves,better to find out in an open field than on some mountain road with a cliff on one side. I like the rear off road it gets good traction without the harshness of a locker on road it is very similar to the old limited slip that I ran before

Looks fine! If I were to order a new truck it would probably be a F-350 Xtracab w/6.5 bed. 6.2 auto XLT. Camper would be yours as I've had super luck with my TC800.
New diesels with EGR's and DPF's are too encumbered with choking pollution equipment.

Thanks Pat, the lift has not changed, since then.

Front: Ford X-springs (aka F450 springs) and Donahoe Racing (now called "Icon") 2" mini spring packs
Rear: 2" blocks added (stacked with factory F350 blocks) - I have new 1 piece Icon lift blocks, that should lower the rear about 1" to be installed

i havent loaded up my camping gear in my truck yet since the swap but its a huge difference i tow my work trailer around and its about 8000lbs and i barely feel it behind the truck where as before it was doggin fairly hard



no im abit to A.D.D to spend the time writing a build up report but feel free to ask any questions theres not much to doing it me and my buddy did the swap in a weekend

That is the exact truck I've been dreaming of building! What engine/trans combo was in it when you started? What transmission/transfer case did you use? Anything you'd do different?
