Hi guys
I am in the planning stages of my build and just wanted to say hi and run some ideas by you. I was going to go with a cherokee but they lack the space I need so I did some looking around and found sportsmobile and ujoint. Sportsmobile is out of my range but I got some ideas at least.
I am going thru school for EMT and I am in the navy I also live in an area of Va Beach that floods anytime it rains hard (why I started looking at 4x4's) I want a good utilitarian camper something easy to clean that can go almost anywhere when it floods ( may even be used as a back up ambulance when the streets are flooded )
This is what I am thinking for the van
7.3l diesel
extended (long van)
pop up top sportsmobile or other source
cots at rear entrance that can be folded up flat with the wall for a large storage area and can be used to hold hard back stretcherboard.
a sink small fridge and a camp style stove (stove can be portable unit I already have one of those)
I would like a shower and toilet they are kinda must haves as I plan on camping in the van for 3 to 4 days at a time. but I want it to tuck out of the way when not in use.
I also need storage for my RC boats and my buddys rc boats I use pvc racks in my wifes honda right now. and could do the same in this van and have them on rollers so I can take them out and put them in.
if there is any other space left I would put in storage compartments there is only going to be the 2 front seats in the van maybe 1 removable seat behind those but I dont see it getting much use.
For the outside I plan on at least a 6"lift for the flooding issues I like the rims on the ujoint truck and will go with something similar.
I would also like the tent that mounts to the rain rail on the roof of the van.
I am still roughing it out so if you have any ideas let me know and if your in va and need a hand hit me up I would be glad to help

Glad it sounds that way there's lots I am still confused on I know I want onboard air and presurized water and some beefed up bumpers lights all the usual stuff. I may swing by your shop in the near future if you don't mind.

You're not far, give me a shout & we'll discuss all the goodies. Check out SuperVan on my site, it has most of the things you want.

I have seen the supervan its what got me wanting one lol I think its going to come out great I am just debating lwb or swb van now. I am going to go with making the 4 cots in the rear of the van so they fold flat against the wall that way I can fold them up and use the area to store the boats. plenty of room for them that way. I am gonna have to get a generator to run the fridge and ac of some sort.

i have a ext body van. its a 15 pass club wagon and man i love the room. i have seating for 5. the 2 up captians chairs up front and a 3 passenger bench right behind that. i can haul pretty much anything in it. i have a about 7 tp 8 feet from the rear to the back of the bench seat so there pleny of room for storage. and it give me extra underbody storage for goodies.

I've heard sportsmobile will outfit your van with there pop top for 6000. Not a bad price if you consider the product, quality and what not

I've been looking for a top for my van with little luck. The tops either aren't on my bodystyle van or there for the regular body van

That thing is pretty awesome. My friend and I also thought about putting a pop up trailer on the back of a unimog or some sort of box truck. It would be one hell of a rig
