Found in the streets of Tokyo: Fully loaded Jimny4WD

Observer
Not sure how modified it is from a stock Jimny but this seems to be super loaded with a Lift, front and rear solid axels, front and rear difflocks, winch, lights, radio. All for probably not even 1/4th of the weight of a Jeep.

I know Scott will surely drool over this one ;)

Sorry for the noise, here's another try with just a few pics.

Pardon me while I wipe the drool off of my keyboard. As some of you may know, I LOVE Jimnys, especially newer ones.

FYI, a newer Jimny weighs about 1,200-1,400 lbs. less than a two-door Wrangler JK, is 8.3" shorter, 10.7" narrower, and has a wheelbase that is 6.8" shorter. Not for everyone, but I happen to love them. Wish we got them in the U.S.; I'd buy one!

And yes, that looks pretty modified, to me. There are a number of Jimny tuners/outfitters out there. One of my favorites is http://www.imageon.jp/. So cool!

Nice find.

I'd give anything for the opportunity to buy a Jimny here in the U.S!!!!!

...but only if it came with a proper pair of solid axles. I'm not the least bit interested in an emasculated independent-suspension faux-by-four. At this point, the only decent, true off-road vehicles left on the market are the Wrangler Rubicon, F150 Raptor, and Ram Power Wagon. And of those, only the Jeep can fit on mountain trails.

Suzuki has no idea what a hot seller the Jimny (or the X-Head pickup concept on which it's based) would sell here in the U.S.

A few more Jimnys found out and about. We just finished a 1000 mile road trip around the northern
Island of Hokkaido on a rental Nissan Cube. I so much wish they rented Jimnys, or any other good 4wd, as the opportunities to get far from the main roads where countless. I did however spot a good number well built Jimnys at used car dealers ranging from 6k to 9k. The car buying process in Japan is a little complex for a buy-ride-sell trip, but next trip here, we'll probably shoot for that to see how it goes.

As for the Nissan Cube and our roadtrip, although not necessarily an Expedition style trip - we did sleep in the car, and did get a little off the main roads, but where never "untethered" from civilization for too long - I'll do a quick write up with pointers to all the areas I'm sure would have been fantastic to wander around in a higher clearance vehicle.
