Four Wheel Campers is on the move !

Our latest TruckCamperMagazine article ...

Its going to be alot of work to move the factory, but an exciting change.

We need more room to expand in the future.

We are busting at the seams here in our smaller warehouse.

The good news is we have at least 2 months to starting moving most of our stuff in to the warehouse, so the final move will be quick and will happen over a 3 - 5 day period.

We have many extra parts, pieces, compressors, racks, welders, etc. from our old Six-Pac factory and this is allowing us to set up the new factory ahead of time without disturbing our current production line or offices.

The owner of the company here has been trying to stay lean and mean financially so we don't expand too fast and spend too much money only to get spanked by something unforseen (like a another recession).

He is setting the company up to be around for a long time.

The warehouse lease rates are 1/2 of what they were 10 years ago, so we would be crazy not to move since our current lease is up in March.

We are going from 20,000 sq.ft. to approx. 68,000 sq.ft. and with some outside parking lot as well.

It will be a good change. Plenty of room to grow and work on new ideas and new projects.

We will starting building the Six-Pac Campers again plus some other totally new camper designs we have been sketching out over the past few years.

Wish us luck with the new move.

Thanks for your patience while we make the transition.

Happy Camping !!!

Does this mean you are going to restart production of Six Pacs again? I recall from the website that the transition to aluminum frames was on hold.

Yes, we will be building the Six-Pac Campers again once we get settled in to the new plant. We just didn't have the room here. A few other things are falling in to place nicely so the future is looking bright.

I think Tom (the owner here) will be starting with the T-100S Model for the small trucks first, and then work on getting the D650 Models (self-contained short bed campers) going again.

We have already been building the hard sided, aluminum framed, cabover campers here for the past year or so, but just doing it on the Four Wheel Campers product name.

It has given us some good practice and experience, so getting the Six-Pac Camper product line up and running won't be such a new thing.

:)

That's good to hear, because a friend of mine is in dire need of replacing his wood-framed Lance, and he's identified the Six-Pac as being closest to the layout he wants. I know he's in the market, and he's hoping to buy a new camper before his current one deconstructs, cartoon-like, on the backroads of Baja.

Oh, yeah: he's got a F-350 long bed, so he's itching for production to move on from the "little" trucks.

Stan,

Congrats on the new digs.

A couple of quick questions: What is the wait time now for a new Hawk? and do you offer a built in Engle type (12v) frig with a front opening door?

Thanks

Hey there

Productions times are good right now.

We can get a new camper ready in just a couple of weeks from the time of order.

:)

Yes, we can install the Engle 12v (front opening) compressor refrigerators.

We have been installing one about every week or so.

It is something that we are going to have in stock since it is very popular.

They seem to be an awesome alternative to the 3-way AC/DC/GAS refrigerators.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Just got back from the Portland show late last night.

Yes, we have done campers for flat bed trucks in the past, and still make them from time to time.

We can still build them and like to, but they just take a little more time & materials to build because they are usually custom to each truck.

If you don't mind spending a little more $$ on a new camper, we can do it for you.

:)

Congrats!!

Any plans for a pop up for a flatbed?

Good luck on the move. And I'd like to encourage you on a flatbed model and I do like the idea of a side door. It's time to plan the retirement travel vehicle.
