Fridge in back of truck bed or in cab?

I am in the process of building up my truck for a 6 month trip. I just got my edgestar fridge the other day. Currently I am building my drawer storage system/ sleeping platform for myself and my wife. I was planning on putting the fridge in my extended cab of my tundra when I realized it would drop down nicely in the rear of the drawer system I am building. So now I can't decide where I should put it. It seems like it would be convenient to have it in both places. If I keep it in the cab of the truck, it will be accessible while we are driving, but further away while we are cooking on the tailgate.

Any advice or thoughts?

I put mine in the back of the cab, it clears the bed out for sleeping. Yes, even with a full size truck, putting the fridge back there was blocking out a big chunk of real estate (we don't use an elevated platform to sleep on).

Another thing to consider is that keeping it in the truck cab is a better idea in bear country.

I've been debating this myself.

One other thing I thought of is that the cab may be air conditioned when on the move, thus reducing the load on the fridge. OTOH, the cab may get hotter more quickly than the bed increasing the load on the fridge.

How much hot air does the fridge put out, if any? Others worried about noise when sleeping. What about in the cab while driving? Or is that a moot point given my Cummins?

You'd be hard pressed to hear it over a cummins -- even if you have your ear pressed up against it. I can't hear mine over my 24 valve - to verify operation, I have to put my hand down by the condenser fan so I can feel the air movement.

The heat load is minimal, relative to your trucks A/C capacity.

Ours is in the bed, but it would be impossible to access in a XtraCab. Also it acts like a table in the bed when the 'Nest is deployed.
