Front-opening RTT?

So, I haven't seen anyone do a CVT/Tepui-type RTT opening over the hood of their vehicle. Is this because there isn't clearance for the ladder or some other underlying reason it's a terrible idea?

I had one. I used to have 2 tents on top, one front one rear... but the ladder hit the front edge of the hood on my jeep. Ultimately, I moved it rearward for driving wind noise consideration. Once it gets to the back the noise goes away, forward it sounds like driving a kettle drum as wind goes between the top and tent, but it can be done.

Also... unless you are willing to stand on your hood, grabbing the ladder to pull it open is a PITA. if you ARE willing to stand on the hood... it is much easier.

Yeah, I don't think my Impreza would take kindly to standing on the hood, so side-opening it is. Thanks!
