Ok is it just me or does the suzuki Equator look stangly like the Nissan Frontier. Is suzuki owned by Nissan or what?

It's a rebadged Frontier.

And I don't know the lineage. Possible Suzuki just bought the license from them or something I suppose.

Nissan is building the Equator for Suzuki. Anything that fits the Frontier that isn't sheetmetal will fit the Equator. A magazine did a Titan swap on an Equator already. The Equator also won Peterson's 4Wheel & Off Road Truck of the Year...thus the Frontier wins also. Yay!
