FS: Heavy Duty Roof Rack (San Diego)

Hi everyone, I picked up this roof rack to put on my 2000 Jeep Cherokee but have decided it is a little too heavy for this rig. It would work great on a bigger rig, an over a pickup bed setup or on an adventure trailer. It has E-trak surrounding it and one down the middle. This allows you to use different E-trak mounting rings and straps, placing them where you need them, for a very secure tie down system.

Outside dimensions are 44" wide by 73" long and about 6" high. Weight is 135#'s. This was built by Gypsy Rack, which build them for military use. The picture with the Hummer is how this rack would originally be used. No mounts so you would need to come up with your own, per your needs.

Only want to get out what I have spent. Materials alone would almost cost this price. if interested or need more info.

Thanks,
Mike

Rack only - $150
Rack with 10 E-trak tie down rings - $200

Not sure what the rules are for bumping. I apologize in advance if not appropriate. I'm sure this would work great for someone.

I would but have no idea what the cost would be. My guess would be it would have to go freight due to the size and weight. I am not even sure how I would pack it.

If you want to do the leg work on finding someone that would ship it, I would drop it off at the shipping company. Obviously the shipping costs would be paid by you.

PM me for more info, if you need something more.

Thanks.

I lowered the price in the post. Most likely it will need to be picked up due to the size.

As for how to use it, if you have a larger rig which will handle the size/weight, this would work great and give you lots of tie down point, which you can adjust where you need them.

If you have a trailer, this could be mounted to the top and give you extra storage.

For an open bed pickup, you can build (or buy) a contractors rack and mount this over the bed. Gives you a great place to tie things down without losing your bed space.

I need to find a good home for it. :ylsmoke:

hey mike...i'm chewin' on this one...135lbs..huh?

i'll get back to you...i'm in la mesa, by the way...

Yeah, I knew it was a little heavy when I bought it but I didn't realize this heavy. Since this is having to be mounted to the top of my XJ, it really would overload the rails.

Now if I had a Wrangler and could build a full "cage" type mount, like most of the ones you see, I would use this in a heartbeat! I LOVE having the E-trak system to move the tie down rings to where they are needed. I am going to incorperate these into a rack I will build myself.

If you want to swing by and see how it will fit, let me know and we'll hook up. I'm in Mira Mesa.

hey mike,
gonna bow out for now...i went and measured today and 73" is too short for my rack...

it would put all the load on the crossbars and not the main support..:(...

bump for you, though. If i can figure a way to make it work I'll post up.
