What do the red straps mean, what are the benefits of viton gaskets ? I scored some of these brand new on a deal I couldn't pass up, they don't have the red straps, and I can't tell if they have viton gaskets or not.. how would I know and do I really need them..

I'm looking for a cap wrench.

The red strap has a "P" for Petrol on it where the cap spins, the yellow has a "D" for diesel. The rubber gaskets will swell when used with petrol and break the center of the flange and may jam the cap as well, Viton is petrol safe.
