FS - Nikonos II - $75 OBO

Michael Slade

Untitled
For sale is my personal Nikonos II camera. It has never been used underwater in the 15+ years that I have used it. It is languishing on my shelf collecting dust. I am not a collector and would like to see it go to someone who is a collector, or who would use it. It has had some film run through it and the shutter is fairly accurate.

I make no guarantees as to the condition of the O-rings or the waterproof or non-waterproof condition of the camera. It would need to be sent out HERE to have it looked at IMO.

This camera comes with a 35mm f/2.5 lens that is sharp and all the glass is perfect.

Here is a LINK to some cool Nikonos history.

This is an old camera, production started in 1968 and ended in 1975.

These cameras are going CHEAP and a search of completed sales on ebay showed prices from $40-100. This camera is pretty rare and spare parts are not available any longer.

Got something fun to trade? Let me hear about it.

Shes beautiful! I'm seriously thinking about this...I was going to get one of those Olympus water proof things, but this would be way cooler (and I really miss 35mm!) Only thing that's slowing me down is I have no idea where to find a dark room where I can make prints. I know, 1hr photo, but what about making good show quality prints? That takes more then a 1hr photo. Ideas?

Make your own darkroom? Hehe.

I wouldn't know where you could go to make showroom quality prints. You can scan negatives and make really beautiful inkjet prints, but to do it right in the darkroom you might want to try setting up your own.

HERE is a good site to get you going.

Clark, there is a pro-lab in Raleigh that you could send the film to for developement and there might be a lab in the Norfolk area- look for a Kodak Pro-Lab or Q-lab as they have the equip you need. ASAP Photo down here in Greenville is another good choice as they hand develop and would be a little closer. I'll dig around for the name of the Raleigh lab- they do pro work.

Found it- Tri Color Imaging (www.nctricolor.com)

Awesome, thanks! Does this camera have a built in light meter? If not, how do you set the exposure? Get off my lazy but and practice?

Thanks!

No light meter. Above water you'd be able to use a light meter and adjust all of the controls. Below water...well, I don't have any experience shooting below water, so I wouldn't know what to tell you. Practice? Yeah, I'll even throw in some B&W film for you to play with. 400 ASA to make sure the underwater pictures have a chance to turn out.
