Arrived home today with tent on the roof of our Audi. My wife loves it and it will be so much easier to use than our Large Overland tent. Thanks for driving it up to Salem. That made my drive much nicer.

thanks for a smooth deal,
Craig

Oh, I see how it is Craig. You let me get the one on here from the Bay Area(22hr drive), while you wait for the Oregon one to come up for sale--and then snag it. ;)
(I did really enjoy the trek down to Petaluma and then back up the 1/101...with the tent on my Audi).

So glad to see you get one!! Now at NWMF '12 we can be the Autohome groupies. :sombrero:

That's funny, I drove mine home on our Audi as well. I was an Autohome groupie this year at Mogfest but we had the large Overland. It was not nearly as easy to use as the Columbus. I really like the design of the Columbus and the fact that we can use with the Audi or the Rover is a BIG plus. I figured you needed the road trip more than me ; )

It looked like you were a lone Autohome groupie this year.

The Columbus is SO damn easy to use (see my p/u trip link about the Norwegian's with the Maggiolina and how they lost the crank, used to wind up the tent, in Russia)--just unclamp the rear and push up and whala, time for sleep. All my friends are amazed at how easy it is to pop up and close back down.

I would be cautious on the Audi. According to the owners manual, the max roof load capacity for my Allroad is 200lbs. The Columbus itself weighs 108lbs, Thule bars are maybe 15lbs, so that doesn't leave enough remaining for me to be up there. :( The G-Wagen however...it's roof load capacity due to the gutters is probably close to 1000lbs. :Wow1:
