Fuel Leak 1995 E350 7.3

Hi guys

I have a 1995 E350 with a 7.3 in it. Love the van but have been having a fuel leak rear its head once in a while. This past weekend I ended up diving into it and determining that the small sensor on the back of the fuel bowl, I believe its call the flow restriction sensor or vacuum sensor was leak. I replaced that, dried up the valley of fuel and proceeded on my way.

The van didn't seem to be leaking anymore, drove probably a hundred plus miles with no problems. Parked the van for the night and had a spot on the ground again. I pulled off the dog house to check the sensor and one line I replaced and all is dry on the back side of the engine. The leak seems to be coming from the bell housing area, but I cant possibly see where it is leaking.

What are thoughts on the front of the fuel bowl having a problem? Do I have to pull the turbo and such to even get the fuel bowl out? No sure how to proceed with this and any input would be great.

Thanks

Check the drain valve on the front of the fuel bowl.
I did pull the turbo to get mine out. It may be possible without I'm not sure. I put a new pump, new lines and new o-rings since I had it apart.
Now if I could only find my slow oil leak is be all set!!

Look at the thread by "89s rule" I believe he has a 95 and resealed the bowl.
Mine is a 95 as well.. It seems to be a common problem.
Good luck.

Very common, especially with the introduction of ULSD. Part # you need is F5TZ-9A153-A.

Thanks for the referral. ;) I am still wrestling with mine, got it all back together and now I have Niagara Falls in front of the fuel bowl. You can see it spurting but not really where from. I've been slowed a solid month because of it, thankful diesel is not as flammable as gasoline I haven't been driving it, but when I did to check everything out I left a trail down the road and back down my driveway.

Thanks for the input guys. I am figuring I at least will need to pull the y pipe for the turbo if not the turbo as well. What about pulling the ac pump or alternator to gain some access from the front?

My leak is dab enough now I would definitely no drive it.

The turbo was not so hard to get off. I was able to get the bowl out with out touching the ac pump or alternator.
Good luck.
As long as you have some time to work on it it is not to bad.

I pulled the whole turbo and pedestal. I'm not sure I could have gotten the fuel pump out otherwise. I also replaced the pedestal o-rings.

PB blaster it in the morning if you can, or use ATF it works as a great penetrant. I pulled my alternator, it was 3 bolts but I was swapping VC gaskets and glow plugs as well as the GPR.
