I have a 2005 Chevy Crew cab 1500 series 4WD. I am looking for build pictures of a similar trcuk to get some ideas and also see how things will look.

Of course I don't mind seeing other Chevy builds :victory:

Thanks for any help

Here is a 2005 2500HD I have been playing with. It is not my primary expo rig yet at this point but will be someday.

This picture will give you an idea of how it will look with an ARB bulbar.

This is my main expo rig… 1978 K10 that is 16 years deep into being built into an adventure rig.

Sweet pics thanks

What is the lift on the 05?

I had a 78 K5 on 38's. that picture brings back memories

Thanks. The only lift on the 2005HD is reclocked torsion bar keys and I trimmed front bump stops a bit. Gained about 3 inches but plan on eventually adding Cognito upper control arms or a SFA swap. The rear springs were already reworked (3 springs added) from the trucks past life when it had a flatbed and tanker and was used by a weed spraying company, which the heavier springs will come in handy whenever I get Flip-Pac topper I would love to have. Much of the altitude also comes from the tall skinny 255/85R16's Cooper tires which are 33.3 inches tall.

How is the ride with the Torsion bar keys in place?

I was thinking of going this route just to be able to get 33's on the truck

Contrary to popular belief, adjusting the torsion bars does not affect the ride quality. What affects the ride quality is the fact the upper control arm will contact the bump stop once the bars have been cranked up, which is why I trimmed the bump stops on the 2005. My 2005 with the bump stops trimmed rides just like stock. My 2001 HD with cranked T-bars but without the bump stops trimmed, well....not so much. That truck rides a bit rough on the suspension rebound.

Here is the 2001 2500 HD with the typical 285/75R16 BFG's with the bars cranked without trimmed bump stops. It is a rough rider. I'll get around to trimming the bump stops someday. Got too many projects going at the moment.

Full size Chevy is really nice especially when you have the means to pay for it. well, I guess, I also need to check it out one of these days.

I'm subscribing to this thread! That blue short cab with the 8.1L swap remains my favorite on this site. Too bad I can't get my whole family in it or I'd be asking what his price is.

I don't know if mine is worthy of being called an expedition rig as I've had to switch to a more traditional truck camper to get room for a family of 4. But I still follow one of the expedition goals of having my truck be as self sufficient for as long as possible.
I've just made simple mods such as putting in the second battery tray from a diesel for the 'house' battery fully isolated from the truck battery. Upgraded the stock tires from 265-75 P rated to LT285-75 D rated BFG's. Carry a full toolkit, CB for comms.
Recent mods were relocating the CB antenna to a fender mount, then having to modify the fender mount I bought because it bent too easy.

Am rebuilding an old popup truck camper.
