Fully built Astro in CA for sale

Are you sure it's actually in Ca or is it in Colorado and is just being advertised in LA? (Has Colorado plates). Have you actually seen it? I'd like to know how the top works. I've been debating wether or not to turn my V-Top into a Penthouse H-top.

Looks just like the one that was for sale in Colorado last year that had 41k original miles, except for the bling and the $8k higher price tag. The add says it's a one off, but the Colorado seller told me the builder built three of them, so it could possibly be a different one and the Colorado plates and green color are just coincedence. He gave me the name of the builder but I can't remember, an Australian guy that liked to turn horse trailers into campers. Sounds like you know him, RockKrawler.

I dont know him, but a week or so ago I hit up CCV (dsw4x4 here on the forum) and asked if the pop up he is doing on the Fords could be done on the Astro's - he replied he could for around $3500 in the PM and sent a pic of one he "redid" for a customer a while back. Not actually positive its in CA, but listed for sale in the Los Angeles area of Craigslist. I havent called on it because of the price, but it sure looks like its a nice unit.

Yes that is the van that was in CO for sale I while back I did work to it for the current owner refinished the interior, lifted it, new shocks, added solar, custom built light bar and hid lights. The owner then took it and added new tires and wheels. The guy that originally built it went out of business sometime in mid 2000's. Then reopened building some little fiberglass camping trailers, I cannot think of his name either. I know he took two years to build the van and charged 12000 dollars in 2000!! When it was for sale here in co I talked to the owner he said he bought the van new and it sat in that guys shop for 2 years before he got to drive it.
It is a pretty sweet setup and it has a lot of room in it when popped up you can walk front to back. The lifting mechanisim was built the same way that orange ford van that is on the portal in ca was built. Almost appears to be the same builder by looking at the lift. But the previous owner of the orange van did not know who built that one either.

It's a sweet little rig, no doubt about it.

I didn't see any hinges or cabinet doors on the little pony wall that stands proud of the cabinets. Is there an interior hinge so the top flips up for storage access, or how does one access that area?

Any idea why he's selling so quickly?

I see he's listed it in Utah and on some Live Auction site. Going to be a great little unit for somebody.
