Fuso alternative?

dzzz

How is a 4x4 Mercedes 1017A as a Fuso alternative? I had not seen one until recently, but I guess there are a few in the U.S. It's older, but I assume can carry more that the FG.
It seems with so few of this type of 4x4 vehicle in the U.S. that these trucks should be considered along with 4x4 conversion of the heavier Fusos.

Very few 4x4 1017's in the US. Someone had one in very bad shape (it could have been a 911) posted all over Craigslist for a while. It was in Atlanta and had been around the world once. There are tons on www.mobile.de if you look under 4x4 motorhomes. Top speed could be an issue in the US I suspect. Some 2x4 versions were imported to the US for a short period. I'm guessing the ride is going to be fairly stiff, perhaps worse than an FG. Air seats would probably fit better in them though.
If I wanted one, I'd probably buy one in Germany and ship it over since there are so many examples for sale over there and many of them are more than 25 yrs old.

Sorry, I was thinking of the round nose models. I think the 1017a is a cabover.
