Fuso FG build ideas

Looking good. What are you going to use for decking on it? Diamond plate? Wood?

I am not sure….just another one of the hundreds of decisions along the way. Flat aluminum plate is cheeper, easier to clean and gives a flat surface to build off. A lot of the world is very dusty including the western US deserts. Keeping dust out is one of my primary goals. The cool factor of diamond plate weighs a bit on my mind. My build will be much like a toy hauler. I like my two wheeled toys and still want to be able to carry cargo and tools.

Well I am making progress…..ever so slowly. Quite happy with my new power coated rims and bed! I have desided I am going to use a 3M product call VHB tape to secure my aluminum plate to my bed. Anyone else use this in their construction? IMG_1732.jpgIMG_1733.jpgIMG_1735.jpg

We used a few hundred meters doing our interior, its brilliant stuff. Check with 3M for the best variant to use for your specific application + they'll be able to tell you the best prep method too.

It takes time ... Even in the big shops like Unicat it took forever to finish a truck. There are just soo many details... But as others have said, you will be very proud on your first trip :)

Heh, I was going to respond but realized you said what I was going to. 3M = good stuff, but make sure you use the right stuff for your needs. VHB is a family of products, there are a lot of variants.

(For repairs I carry VHB, butyl tape, and eternabond.)

Thanks for the 3M tip. I have been in contact with 3M already and they have been quite helpful. I rived the diamond plate in the photo and it took hours. Lots of layout and deburing. In the end the tape may be the best choice.

VHB tape does its job well. Make sure you have the panels aligned the way you want them, once attached there's no wiggle room to reposition. Smaller panels are easier to work with.

I used 3M VHB tape to secure aluminum panels to the inside of my van. Works great!

Can any one explain why images are rotated when posted?

May I ask which 3M VHB tape did you use? ATM I am deciding between 3M™ VHB™ Tape #4910 or #4941. The difference I can see is #4910 is clear and the latter one is grey or there is more?

Never happened to me but I can only think of that you need to first save in correct orientation on your computer by an image viewer program, close it, and then upload.

Bumper and Winch mount done.

I made the winch removable so I could mount it on the rear of the truck if needed.

I also made it so it can be stored in a side compartment. I used two attachment points for strength and to prevent it from rattling around.

Form followed function when I found that a shovel fit inside the bumper!
