For sale is a custom 4x4 expedition truck, designed to support adventures across the world. We spared no expense in building this truck, and are sad to see it go, but we must allow for it to go to someone else. We have lived in this truck full-time for the past year, and have taken it to the southern tip of Baja and to the Arctic Circle. It’s performed amazingly well. We wouldn’t hesitate to take it to South America or Africa, and in fact we planned to before our goals changed. Our design intentions were to keep it simple, reliable, maintainable, and comfortable in any scenario. We know it may take some time to find the right buyer- until then we’ll continue to live in it. We’ll be spending time in Idaho, Utah, and Colorado over the next couple months, but have flexibility to deliver and train a new owner. Our goal is provide a turn-key platform ready to take you wherever your heart desires. There are a number of items included in the full-sale price that we’ll replace right before we deliver it, so that you get that “new-truck feeling.” We are happy to answer any questions about this truck, and have documented quite a bit about it and our adventures in it on our Youtube and Instagram pages: @HD.Adventuring

Chassis:
The chassis is a 4x4 2007 Mitsubishi Fuso FG140. It was a wildland fire support truck used sparingly by a private company in Oregon, and kept in a garage its entire life. When we bought it, it had about 40,000 miles on it, and not a speck of rust. We spent about a year building it with massive help from Overlander Global. In the past 2 years of our ownership, it’s gone up to about 74,000 miles, and has given us zero trouble, aside from some faulty leaf springs that we replaced. It’s got a turbocharged diesel engine that returns 10-12 MPG, depending on speed and conditions. It will cruise at 65 or 70 MPH in the flats, although we prefer to keep it at 60 for comfort and fuel efficiency. It’s slower in the hills, but can climb up anything. We’ve been meticulous about maintenance, and all fluids have been exchanged at or before the factory suggested intervals. Maintenance log available to interested buyers.

The Habitat:
The Habitat was built from composite panels in partnership with Alan from Overlander Global in Gunnison, CO. It’s made of 2 inch thick structural panels, using high quality SikaFlex Glue. This was Allans 10th or so build, he knows what he’s doing! It’s been comfortable down to -40 F and above 100 F, thanks to the strong insulation. The newly polished Arctic Tern windows and doors are insulated, and have bug screens and blackout curtains built in. The diesel heater and minisplit AC heat pump can be set to whatever temperature you desire. The roof is covered by solar, except where the skylight and Flat-Mount Starlink dish are mounted. The 1240 watts of solar provide plenty of power to run the AC, Induction Stove, and all the other electronics eternally in most environments, with a full Victon power system. Of course, you can also plug in to shore power to charge, and the vehicle alternator charges the 624 AH of lithium batteries as well. It’s got a bathroom with a BRAND NEW composting toilet(same model we happily used for over a year, but we’ll let you christen this one.) The bathroom has a shower with hot water provided by the Truma Combi Diesel heater. There is 50 Gallons of water storage and a 3 stage water filter. If you’re conservative, this can get you two weeks in between fill-ups. The Iceco Fridge/Freezer under the large kitchen sink can hold a ton of food and beverages. We’ll include a brand new queen mattress for the bed. The soft close wood cabinets and drawers make it feel homey. The dinette has a ton of storage underneath, and converts to a guest bed using the table. One of our big reasons for going full-custom was to build a big garage. The garage has room for ALL the gear. It’s currently setup with a slide out tray for 2 mountain bikes, storage for 2 sets of skis, 2 packrafts, and the associated helmets, boots, PFDs, and other paraphernalia that go along with these activities, but this cavernous space could be re-arranged to suit whatever items you’d like to bring. There is a passthrough from the camper into the cab for security and ease of traveling in nasty weather.

Maintenance:

This truck needs nothing. As mentioned, I was getting it prepped to do the Pan-Am, so in the past 6 months we’ve replaced nearly every wear item:
  • Fluids: transmission oil, transfer case oil, differential oil, brake fluid, coolant, engine oil
  • Brakes: New brake shoes and turned drums
  • Filters: Fuel, oil, air filters all replaced within past 500 miles
  • Rear Leaf Springs- the original custom springs were too long, and ended up failing. Alcan replaced them with the right length, and ensured us there will be no more issues.

The turn-key Experience. For full asking price, We will include:
  • Delivery within 250 miles of Salt Lake City or Denver(other places negotiable)
  • A full day of training on driving, the systems, maintenance, etc.
  • Brand new windshield(current one has a crack in it)

Very nice rig. You put a lot of thought into it. Can you tell me how many HP with the engine? Also, can you tell me the dimensions of the dinette when it is folded down for sleeping?

Thanks! It's been a ton of fun, and treated us well. It's a 4.9 Liter turbocharged diesel engine with 147 HP and 347 foot pounds of torque. The dinette when in bed mode is 43"x82"
