Fuso FG71 / FG83 / FG84 / FG140 / FG637 / FG649 - What do they mean?

I'm getting very confused at the moment. I know that the FG is the 4X4, but what do the numbers actually denote?

My Fuso is a FG83 - I asked a supplier for an item for my FG83 only to be told that they only supply items for the FG71, but they actually list parts for the FG84. Which then got me thinking.

It does not cover everything, but it should give you a better idea of how the model numbering system works.
