Went to the Great American Offroad Park in Auburn, AL yesterday for its spring season opener. Took the rover out, planned on taking it easy.... like that ever happens.
within the first 10 minutes on the Federal Firebreak trail, I was following a bunch of jeeps, they took a bypass route around small spot I had done about a dozen times back in august...i realized why the turned around after my exhaust was gurgling and I was stuck in mud up to my license plate on my back door. Tossed a tow strap to one of the jeepers, he pulled me out, and to my surprise, my door seals saved the interior from the disgusting mud. later in the day, that same jeep needed my help to pull him out.
wheeled the rest of the firebreak trail with some bigger rigs, just more mud, creek crossings, steep inclines, and logs to go over.
went to the mudbog and watched some idiots for a while. most notably: a stock honda ridgeline (street tires) who was talking ********** decided to drive through a spot which was absolutely terrible. a chevy on 12"+ block lifts under his leafs. a chevy with a small child in the back of the bed who nose dived into a hole, stopped abruptly, and slammed his kid into his cab on impact...**************. also a stock 2wd GMC canyon had enough momentum to drive across a small portion of the hole and decided to go straight into one of the deepest, wettest spots in the mud haha.
finally we went back over to the rock garden area, they just added a new pit. 70-75 degree incline on one side and a 55-60 degree incline on the other, about 15ft deep overall. after riding through it slowly on an ATV, i decided my front bumper would be fine with the angle at the bottom of the pit and i took my rover through it. both directions. when i exited the pit using the steeper slope, the front end of the rover got airborne. it was quite fun, glad I had the suspension and motor mounts the way they are....
