Garmin 60CSx on da computa

So, This may be a very easy dumb/question....If so you have my permission to slap me :ar15:
What I'm wanting to do is use the laptop & 60csx in the Taco during expo travel. Is there software included w/ the garmin stuff to link the gps unit & the computer while traveling so that you have a 'larger' screen to view live maps on?
I'm a fairly new garmin owner & I'll admit I have not researched this feature much.
How are you guys set up?

Thanks.

I know it's possible to see a live view in google maps. Haven't seen a way to do it in mapsource yet..hopefully someone else knows, I have a 60C

Go to Garmin.com and download a free program called nRoute. It connects your GPS to your laptop and allows you to use it as the screen and a whole bunch more. Great program that I highly recommend! I run my Garmin Quest using this and an external antenna and it's slick.

Excellent! I will Check it out tonight!

Anybody have a good site to get a computer mount from? I've seen a couple good ones. I think BajaTaco had a slick one?

Thanks

Sorry to hijack a bit but can you zoom in on google earth while connected to gps and see where you are on the mountain real time?

Depends on wether you want fixed sucker or bean bag......

I use the garmin boat mount in one truck, ie screw down
and the ram mount in my other truck

For a laptop? Or the GPS unit? I have the GPS all mounted up via a suction cup. works pretty dang good.
I'm looking for options to mount up the computer so it's not floating around the front seat. :D
any ideas?

sorry my mistake.....those are for gps...

Laptop....RAM mounts do a wide selection, or just sell parts.

ie you could buy the universal mount...$ 40 a $25 6" multimount and then fab something for it to mount too.

I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, mainly because it's only available on the pay version of Google Earth Plus, which I haven't secured yet.

I have Google Earth Plus. Have not used it with the GPS yet, but....

I hope you guys have NetTaco's, or a couple terrabytes of storage space, because Google Earth requires internet to get the detailed satellite photos. And it doesn't cache them.

If youve got a mapsource product, i.e. topo or city navigator, it does allow you to connect the GPS to the computer and use the computer screen as your nav screen.

The older versions of Mapsource did have this function. Garmin removed this from current versions of Mapsource and now you need the free NRoute Garmin program mentioned above to do real time display and routing on an attached laptop.
