Is there a way to use the Garmin GPS60CSX and hook it to my Laptop while i'm out exploring? I like the idea of the 3D terrain, but i kind of think its internet related.

any help would be appreciated. how would i get these things working together?

It use to be possible to cache the Google Earth photos on your laptop and use them while disconected from the internet, but it is my understanding that Google disabled this feature with the last version, you can still cache the photos, but if you start Google Earth and it does not find an internet connection, it will make the cached photos non usable.

If anyone knows a work around for this, I would be interested.

Do you mean using 60CSX as a GPS receiver? If that's what you are looking for, download Spanner from Garmin http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=1627. I've use it with Microsoft Streets & Trip and that works fine.

Garmin's little-known nRoute software is/was a free download and you can run that with your 60CSx connected to a Windows laptop. They've discontinued it though so I'm not sure if downloads are still available from Garmin. But I've used it before and it was a nice way to take advantage of a larger laptop screen, etc.

i can't find my garmin disk anywhere either. i guess i'll call them and see if i can get a copy of the garmin software.
