Garmin StreetPilot 7200

Dave,

The 7200 came out about the same time I got my 2730. I really wanted the 7200 but could not afford it. For $300 it would make a great GPS.

Alvaro

Well, the guy selling the cheap 7200 didn't pan out. I did find one for a bit more and bought it instead. It's freaking HUGE. I can see why it's designed for truckers and RVers.

I'll take it out and mount it for pics, but I think I'm going to sell it for I what I bought it for and get something not so large. It's pretty distracting on the dash.

Alvaro and davegonz.... LOL.... seriously... I'm laughing my butt off right now. I found this forum by searching for how/where you would mount a 7200 in an 80 series. I read through this thread once, had a look around, recognized Alvaro from IH8Mud and decided to sign up because I dig expedition style wheeling. I had to read this thread once more before it hit me that I bought my 7200 off davegonz.

yeah, this thing is almost too big to just stick anywhere. almost. I have a couple ideas I'm working on. One is to get a ram mount and bolt it to the right of the T-case lever but it would be in the way of passengers knees. I have very tall friends that barely fit as it is.. The other is to get rid of the clamp-on power connector/mount and put it in front of the gauge cluster with velcro. It would block the spedometer but it has a read out for the sped anyways....

eh.. so far, I love this thing. so it WILL find it's place.

Shoot you think thats big... check out the new Baja 840c :) It's another inch bigger than the 7200!

Yeah use a ram-mount and put it to the right of the center console area. That's how i mounted our Baja 540c and it came out perfect. It's nice not to have to squint when doing 50mph down a washboard road :ylsmoke:

Ha. that's too damn funny.

I ended up buying a used Samsung Q1 UMPC and will run Google Maps, and iGuidance. Ram makes a sweet cradle/mount that bolts onto the seat attachment point and doesn't get in the way. I like it so far.

Wow... that samsung is neat! I'll be ordering the ram mount on monday and will try mounting it to the right of the t-case lever. I've given up on the idea of putting it in front of the gauge cluster. It blocks the locker indicators and other lights I might want to know about.

now to buy the topo map cd and load it up...
