Sorry about that Mark. Shutterfly resized all my photographs and I just have not taken the time to transfer them over to photobucket. I went ahead and grabbed a few for you to see the rack. Let me know if you need any specific shots.

Last photograph shows the center section that I have been working on. I also removed the front bar just to see how I liked the look/wind resistance.

Did the removal of the front bar make any difference to fuel consumption and noise?

It made a difference with the noise. Although I now can hear the noise behind me where it hits the rear bars(just a little bit). I actually use the rack pad to eliminate the air going under the front bar. This helps a lot. I also like the front bar removed when I have the T-tops down. The bar is not obstructing my view. As far as fuel economy - I do not see a significant change.

Do you have any pictures with the hard top off? I would be interested in seeing what it looks like. I'm getting ready to do a very similar roof rack, but I was going to follow the contours of the rear roll bar in the back (the rack will not be full length).
I'd also be interested in seeing what you end up with for a fairing or pad to cut the wind noise.

The 45 degree tube has a simple bolt in it that needs to be removed before detaching the rear section. All lights have a disconnect plug.
As for the front fairing. I have always used a front rack pad to take up the space between the bar and the top of the Jeep. On this rack I moved the front bar as far back as possible so if I decide to make a fairing at least it will be at an angle and not straight up and down. With this said I could only go so far back and still be able to remove the T-tops.
On my last rack the front bar was in front of the windshield and although I wanted to try a fairing it would have been coming forward up from the windshield. Hope this makes sense.
I have been thinking about trying to make a fairing out of .063 aluminum. Simple take a sheet the width of the Jeep and about 8" tall and work it with a hammer to get the right look. I have yet to try this but would like to give it a go.

Are those stainless allen screws for your detachable portion? I want those!
