Geezer and Geezele Question - Compression Hose

In my career, I apparently drove a desk far too long, and consequently have developed mild edema in my lower legs. I have found several pair of compression socks that fit well once on, but are veritable (insert profanity here) to get on and off. The socks I refer to are SmartWool and Sockwell. My foot size is a 13 in a 4E width. When hiking and hunting, I wear Kenetrek or Zamberlan boots that fight firmly with the brands I mentioned.

Any recommendations for those of us with Sasquatch feet?

Thanks, Just knee high.

So far, the only socks I’ve found that are easy to get into are Dickies. The foot is wide enough to not squeeze and cause pain, but the weave isn’t comfortable in the boot. I also use a compression sleeve in combination with a SmartWool ankle high. That sorta works.

I have seen the ads for the zipped style, but not sure about them. I wonder how substantial they are, and if the zipper is comfortable. Have you tried them?

Do you know if any of the geezer gadgets for putting on socks help? My biggest issue with socks like the SmartWool is after getting the foot in the partially inverted sock, then pulling the top over the heel and up the calf. I may stop in to one of those home health appliance places and check them.

When I was in the hospital recently and had to use thigh high compression socks, the nurse put plastic bags over my feet before pulling the socks over them and it made it much easier to get the socks on.

Of course these were toe less socks.

But they are the same ones I use on long drives in the summer when I’m going to be sitting behind the wheel for 6 to 8 hours a day. So for driving, it’s comfortable to use these, I’m not sure how they would work for hiking though.
