Gen 2.5 AC Control Unit ???

I just got a 2nd opinion on my AC unit and it seems that I need a new AC Control Unit. Has anyone ever experienced this issue? I have searched the forum and have not seen much mention of a bad AC unit. I've mostly noticed failed heater cores or AC compressors. I got a quote from a local dealer, but I'd like to do it my self if I can find someone that has done this. Otherwise, it's $430 P&L.

What do they define as the "unit" ? if it means the controls then it should be some basic removal of the center dash parts, im guessing the controls just pop out and have either plugs or levers going to a board or the switches themselves.

If they are saying your evaporator assembly is bad, that's a whole other snake to skin, usually requires dash removal.

It is the AC PROGRAMMER- Air Conditioner - CONTROL UNIT,A/C Part# MR360447
I believe that it resides behind the glove box and above the evap assembly.

That's the relay, should be easy to swap out. There's a video on youtube for taking out Dash.... not sure if it can be tackled by just taking out the glove box?

Thanks. Easy indeed. I pulled the bad one out of mt truck last night and went to the junk yard on my lunch break. To my dismay, there was a guy in the only wrecked Montero in the yard pulling some other AC parts. Luckily, he was pulling the AC switches from the dash and left me the control unit.

I am looking forward to testing out the new part tonight once I get home.

You're lucky, I'm yet to find a full size monteros in junk yards where I live (Maryland). Really sucks having to buy new OEM stuff.
