I couldn't really find a Gen 2 (not 2.5) replacement, so I got a 'Mitsubishi Pajero Center Arm Rest Cup Holder Grey RHD JDM OEM' off of eBay hoping it would fit. Of course, it didn't, so I modified it to fit somewhat better.
The original part (armrest was not needed):
First, I chopped down the rear corners to make clearance for the hinges on each side. The holes on the bottom line up with the original 2.5 bracket hardware, so I just made sure I didn't cut too close to them. I used a hacksaw without a vise, it cut through the plastic easily:
These side sections had to be cut out as well to fit more flush with the lower opening:
When attaching to the bracket/hinge, I used a couple of washers to add some length to the holes on the cupholder - they don't extend enough compared to the original 2.5 tray:
Final fitment. It is not perfect, but close and functional, and it looks ok. If I were to cut out some of the plastic or remove it (?) on the bottom of the armrest, it might sit more flush. But from the typical driving angle I doubt I'll notice.
