Gen 3 - Center Console Disassembly

All-Terrain

No Road Required
Anyone done this?

I'd like to set up some stealth wiring behind it, probably between the shift levers and the cupholders. But I don't want to go pulling things apart and breaking anything...

... would love some tips on the disassembly.

Thanks!

take a look at the FSM.. I pulled my center console apart and it was pretty easy (I did have the front seats out at the same time)

The only "gotcha" was a 2nd screw to remove the drive selector (PRND). There is one screw on the side, and one just at the base of the shifter piece that you actually use to shift. It's a big hunk of plastic that needs to slide straight up. It's difficult to see this screw unless you get down low.

Looks like the first video from Mard covers removing the shifters

Got a link for the relocation? Was wondering about this, myself.

Should be super easy with the limited with the electronic actuated controls. Unplug, move the controls to the bottom and plug in. In my case I swapped my 6 disk changer with the temperature control waiting for the time I do double din upgrade. For xls model it is more of a chore because of actually moving cables and wires. I'll try to find the link. I believe I saw it on an Aussie forum. Hope this helps
