Gen 3 - Items to address on a "new" purchase + spare parts

What are the must-do items on a newly-purchased (obviously used) Gen 3?

What about spare parts? What spares should be kept on hand for those common failures?

Timing belt, Tensioner, Water Pump - assuming there is no maintenance history and over 60K miles. Then access brakes, suspension components, bushings, shocks etc. regular PM for any 10 year old + vehicle. I don't keep any spares on hand for my Gen 3 except oil and air filters.

Tensioner - Serpentine belt tensioner?
Shocks - Looks like only KYB Gas-a-just available? No Monomax's? Any Bilstein's out there?
Brakes - What brand rotors do you suggest?
Crank bolt - Is this an issue on Gen 3's? How do you know if it's been replaced?

I would check out your diff and t case oils, flush and refill. Valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, rear cam seals, and everything else the above post has said.
I'm pretty sure bilstein makes a shock and strut for the gen 3.

Gen 3 doesn't use a strut, it has a coilover in the front and Bilstein does indeed make a replacement in their 4600 series for it.

Timing belt tensioner.

The Serpentine belt tensioner bearing is rebuildable. Not sure how may miles are on your rig, the Serpentine belt is simple easy to replace on these vehicles. Maybe 10 minutes if you are going slowly. I did replace mine at about 120K miles. 2 idler pulleys and rebuilt the tensioner pulley bearing and replaced the belt. Amazing how much the engine quieted down.

I would be somewhat surprised if you really need shocks and struts at this point unless you are buying with very high mileage save your money for cats bc they will bad soon if they aren't already.

x2 to the above.
change all fluids, seals and gaskets.

I only have brake and transmission fluid left on my list. For tranny fluid: I changed whatever came out from the pan, but I want to get a full flush done ASAP.
