GEN 3 Montero Spare tire carrier (poorman's version)

Been looking around for an aftermarket spare tire carrier for my 285-75-16s and the only ones i can find are from australia and man they a bit pricey for a carrier. So i decided to give this a try and so far its been holding up. I used the factory carrier and cut the carry pin and just used the two lug holes to carry my spare. (poorman's way i know)

I was thinking about this too. I wanted to drill a hole for a 3rd and weld a nut to the back side.

I raised mine using two square tubes because tire was hitting the bumper.

Turns out that isn't possible on gen 3's The inside of the rim hits the bottom of the spare mount when using only the upper holes

Yup its been sturdy. Lot of times I sit or climb on spare tire to get on roof. Also has gone through good amount of corrugated road. My rear shock blew but this tire mount is holding good

Key for it to mount is angle the spare tire for it to line up with the two holes. That is how I mounted mine. Goodluck!

I was able to shave a bit off the bumper cover and it is tight but it shuts with a 285/75/16 M/T on there!
