any issues bolting up to a 2.5 vs a gen 2?

That's not an issue, the issue will be if they come set up for the diesel Montero. In which case you'll need to cut off the extra brackets to make it match the over seas model trucks. There's a writeup on the 4x4wire but i can't seem to find it now.
