Picked up a 2003 Gen 3 (with the 3.8L engine) last week, it has just shy of 150k miles, so I'm sure the timing belt has been done, but I want to do it just to be sure. I've done the timing belt on my gen 2.5, so I know what I'm in for.
Looking at rock auto, they have several kits available, ranging in price from the low 100s to the lower/mid 200s (DJI part number: TBK161WP at the lower end, and Goodyear GTKWP320H at the high end). I'm sure there is a difference, but there isn't enough info that I can dig up on the DJI kit.
I could also just order everything piece-meal style to be sure I end up with a gates branded belt.
I'm inclined to buy the goodyear kit but through amazon which is only $150
Will also be doing water pump, valve cover seals, spark plugs, should I preventatively replace the cam seals? wasn't sure if mitsubishi had fixed the problem by the time the 3.8L rolled out.
The seller listed it as a 20th anniversary edition, but I'm not sure what makes it a 20th anniversary edition, anyone know? Information online about the differences is very limited, plus I have no owners manual :-(
