Go have her drive a Jeep. Thats what I did. Here honey I'll buy you a 2011 Rubi, then she drove it. Her direct quote " We are not paying $30k + for a vehicle that rides and drives worse than the '88" Now we own a Gen III ;-)

I saw one of the actual Montero's that won Dakar at a show in Germany and it was a full blown race vehicle sharing almost nothing with the floor model. I do believe that ones based on floor models did well in the production class.

Actually 2001-2002 were very much based off production model. Then rule changes saw 2003-on models built on totally unrelated chassis purely as racing truck nothing in common to actual production vehicle. The sound is completely different in real life though, you hear maybe 50% of it in the video. And with the windows down its crazy, then you hear much more of the sharper high pitched racy not on high RPM's.
