Took the Montero for a test drive this morning on the 10min drive taking my kids to school. Started up great, and idled around 900 RPM, still have to play with the shift cable as it's shifting a little late now.
I didn't have any hiccups during the drive which was some <35mph mix of driving and sitting in traffic, but as I was nearing their school and coasting from 35MPH my tach went to 0RPM and it shutoff completely. I coasted to side of road and tried to re-start, but just a strong crank. I checked for loose connections under the hood a few times and finally it started up and I was able to drop them off. I can't pinpoint a specific connection that I touched and caused the restart, but I messed with:
- Battery Negative cable
- Coil-Dist Wire
- Coil harness connection
- Ignition module
- Cycled shift lever a few times
I ordered a new ICM connector from rockauto.
