Gen3 headlight variants

How many/what are the variants of Gen3 headlights? The headlights on our 20th Anniversary are super cloudy and have minor surface stress cracks, and are generally just not worth the effort to restore. Also: I highly dislike the "chrome" look that they had. I've seen some 03-06 that have a much darker housing color, or at least look like it.

I've also noticed that the 01-02 have a different housing color and the separated indicator lights. But i've also seen what appears to be 01-02 without the orange section in the side. And i've noticed that as a rule, there seems to be a lot more 01-02s with clear un-fogged lenses.

Is there a glass lens variant?

Looks-wise, i'm after the 01-02 without the orange reflector, but i'm having no real luck tracking them down. Does anyone know what market or exact model they might come from?

I have a 2001 and I have one beautiful clear lens and one yellow and foggy looking one.. I have a feeling there was replacement at one point.

My 03 headlights are getting a little foggy and maybe a little bit yellow. I think they were buffed out before I bought it about a year ago.

All of them are plastic
US spec are all:
01-02 black bezel and orange lower side light.

03-06 chrome and clear side lights with orange bulbs. Sometimes the chrome looks black.


Some 03-06 Puerto Rico Monteros are chrome with orange lower side light. Those might be in the US.

There are some weird aftermarket versions too. And the European and Aussie versions too.

Any of the Europe or Aussie versions the same as usdm 01-02 but without the orange patch? Or are the ones i'm seeing like that custom jobs?

I've found a few other examples of these over the last few months, but this one is just the easiest one to find again in the Google Machine. Apologies if the truck itself isn't anyone's style.

Bump.

Had a discussion with a friend of mine in TX who has a late Gen3. Turns out he has the same issue i do, but he swears there's an 01-02 down the street from him sometimes that has the black/no reflector headlights on it. I will bug him to take a candid picture.
