funny this gets brought up here.. i was trying to get some info from jeep forum and jeep strokers about squeezing out a few more HP and TQ with some head work (one not prone to cracking) and slightly larger cam and all the supporting mods..

BOB91YJ do you have any suggestions of parts for a nice little top end build?

that wasnt exactly the question.. Im aware of the processes of helping everything breath a little better such as a port and polish..
I wanted suggestions from people who have done it, as in which cam? (manufacturer, size, any regrets) and so on with the other parts.....

I'd have to get the specifics from our Crew Chief/engine builder. The biggest difference came from the tuning set up/engine management system we got from Painless. One of their engineers spent some time with our drivers, the car, and a lap top.

PM me back channel if you want me to look into specific parts for you. Keep in mind, our engine was built for high RPM (relative) full throttle operation. Not necessarily the same build you'd want for an Expo rig. The only place we really missed on the build was the compression ratio. We wanted to be able to run pump gas, didn't work out that way. It needed a steady diet of 100 octane to run correctly.

Google is your friend. There are a ton of resources out there for Stroking and modding the venerable 4.0L motors. I bought the 63mm bored TB from Strokedjeep (Leigh Machine) and from what I hear he is a superb resource for all things 4.0L, and a really nice dude. I also popped in a set of upgrade bosch/cryco injectors from Precesion Injectors...the combo of the 2 was a real kick in the pants.

As for actual part numbers for head bits, haven't made it that far into research yet. My head was rebuilt stock when I bought it...so I have a lot of miles to go before I consider ripping it apart again.

well, I can't really post this in the "What did you do today" thread cause I didn't do it yet, but my dad dropped the ball and let me know i got some front shocks for my XJ which is much needed, I am at 330,000 miles on the original front shocks. I will have to take a video of me pushing the shock up by hand and showing how long it takes them to extend, it is comical lol, the only thing is, he couldnt remember what brand they got, he just said they have yellow dust covers. it being that he works on race cars and has worked a bit on trophy trucks and ran the baja 1000, I would have to say it isnt a big name like bilstein or he would remember...

Have most of the items ticked off and once I get the new radiator in and find the short that drains my battery in a week. I should have a road ready jeep...
